Your Eyes
copyright 2000

When I saw your eyes

Pools of onyx

How trite and used my words became

But I am entranced by those depths

And I forget any eloquence of language

And your lips captivate me

I long to trace them

With my thumb

And cup you face in my hand

The soft formed features

Your warm skin

Makes me remember

A passion I had almost forgotten

We will not speak

Perhaps a glance

A smile, no more than that

But one day

I will paint your memory on canvas

In my dreams

I will remember your lips

And your eyes
